2017 New Year’s Resolutions:

  1. sub 2.20 marathon
  2. weigh under 10 stone
  3. do 1 drawing every month

Really relaxing week staying in London, sleeping in, running when I feel like it, seeing family and friends, eating whatever.  I had entered Serpentine New Year’s Day 10km feeling in shape to go sub 31min, but I was fully in holiday mode by the time it came round and my mind did not want to be there. Was in 4th place the whole race just falling asleep. It wasn’t until John Gilbert caught me at 7km that I woke up. Tagging along behind him I felt much happier and managed to kick past him with 500m to go. Ran 31.35 but hadn’t really hurt myself at all, so I can look at it as a good tempo run rather than a bad race. And it was really nice to catch up with John after. Pizza, beer and icecream with family on New Years Day, my little boy Jim in fine form after rough virus. Accidentally left our car in Greenwich parking bay for 90min without ticket but didn’t get booked, made my year!

Favourite movie 2016:

Captain Fantastic

Favourite song 2016:

Aurora – Conqueror

Favourite book (ok, so it was published 1869, but I read it for 1st time this year):

Dostoyevsky – The Idiot
